Announcement: National Capacity Development and Operator Certification Workshop

August 2020 Virtual Sessions

In-person workshop postponed and held August 10-12, 2022 in Alexandria, VA

Registration is open for EPA and ASDWA’s Capacity Development and Operator Certification Workshop – Virtual Sessions. Registrants can expect to hear strategies on operator training and testing during the pandemic, collaborative actions of the capacity development and operator certification programs to improve compliance, and procedures to build financial resilience. The following sessions will be 45 minutes with an optional hour long discussion after.

Targeting Disadvantaged Systems to Develop Capacity and Compliance

This session highlights collaborative efforts of the capacity development and operator certification programs that target disadvantaged systems to help with compliance issues and decrease health-based violations.

This session will provide the financial benefits of having asset management, as well as examples of tools and best practices to implement with the asset management framework.

This session will showcase adaptive techniques that were utilized during COVID-19 to continue training and testing. States may apply these strategies going forward during the pandemic.

Additionally, EPA’s Sustainable Systems Team held an introductory webinar in advance of the August Capacity Development and Operator Certification Virtual Sessions for state drinking water program staff and other partners that want to learn about these programs, want a refresher, or may be new to working on capacity development or operator certification.
