ASDWA Webinar on New USGS Groundwater Corrosivity Study
August 4, 2016 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm UTC+0
ASDWA is hosting this free webinar that will feature a presentation by Ken Belitz, the Chief of Groundwater Assessment for the National Water-Quality Assessment Project at USGS, about the new Groundwater Corrosivity Study. The study shows high potential for groundwater to be corrosive in half of the U.S. states. Corrosive groundwater, if untreated, can dissolve lead and other metals from pipes and plumbing fixtures. Although the results and human health implications of this study are more relevant to homeowners whose drinking water is supplied by private wells, some of the data in the study are for samples collected from public supply wells. There will be time at the end of the presentation for the audience to ask questions. State drinking water administrators and their staff are encouraged to attend.
