ASDWA’s Annual Member Meeting Concludes
From March 17th to March 19th, ASDWA held its Annual Member Meeting in Alexandria, Virginia. Attendees included state administrators, EPA partners, and invited guests from other state associations. ASDWA members were able to discuss key issues facing state drinking water programs today, including federal uncertainty, funding fluctuations, upcoming regulations, and more.
Attendees heard presentations from states regarding fluoride, lead, and nitrate, while partner organizations shared some of their outlooks on how to work successfully under the new executive administration. One particularly notable session included representative from Tennessee, California, Virginia, and North Carolina who spoke about responding to recent crises in their water systems due to extreme weather events. Additionally, the outgoing president of the Board of Directors, Ron Falco from Colorado, received the Presidential Award to honor and celebrate the conclusion of his successful term.
ASDWA hosts its Member Meeting annually to allow states to share experiences and resources while navigating emerging challenges with co-regulators. These meetings provide opportunities for administrators to collaborate in real time to work through some of the most pressing issues in the drinking water sector. During these uncertain times, this meeting is an invaluable space for state regulators to navigate unprecedented challenges. Thank you to attendees for making it a great and productive meeting!
