New EPA WaterTA Assistance for PFAS and Emerging Contaminants in Small and Disadvantaged Water Systems
On November 20, EPA announced a new “Tackling Emerging Contaminants” initiative as part of the Water Technical Assistance (WaterTA) program. The funding is provided from the Emerging Contaminants in Small or Disadvantaged Communities (EC-SDC) grant program. The goal of the initiative is to help 200 water systems over the next three years. The assistance will include water quality sampling and analysis, source water assessments, preliminary treatment design and evaluations, operational and sampling training, identification of solutions to address emerging contaminants and PFAS contamination, and community engagement and outreach support.
EPA will also share best practices and amplify successes through case studies, fact sheets, webinars, and other resources regarding addressing emerging contaminants, including PFAS. For more information, visit EPA’s WaterTA website.
