ASDWA 50th SDWA Anniversary Video with Amy Parmenter from Rhode Island
Amy Parmenter, ASDWA Member and Chief Administrator for the Rhode Island Department of Health, Center for Drinking Water Quality, is featured in a new video for our continuing series with Travis Loop from Waterloop. This video series is being released over the course of the year to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) and the 40th anniversary of ASDWA.
In this video, Amy Parmenter highlights the importance of source water protection through funding avenues made available from SDWA. Many of the Rhode Island water systems rely on small groundwater sources, so her team focuses on a radius of protection around those drinking water sources. She also emphasized the importance of maintaining the protections and funding avenues of SDWA amidst economic development pressures, as this funding is essential to her team and the work of Rhode Island.
