ASDWA 50th SDWA Anniversary Video Series Featuring Amanda Ames of Louisiana
Watch ASDWA’s next video in our continuing series to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) and the 40th anniversary of ASDWA. This series is conducted in partnership with Travis Loop from waterloop and the videos are being released over the course of the year.
In this week’s video features Amanda Ames, ASDWA’s current President-Elect and Chief Engineer for the Louisiana Department of Health. In the video, Amanda shares how they worked with the legislature to develop a rule to issue report cards with letter grades for drinking water systems. The grading system uses a holistic approach to look at factors such as financial sustainability and customer satisfaction, in addition to water quality violations. This has helped provide more transparency for consumers in the state to understand what is happening with their water system.
