Successful 7th National Capacity Development and Operator Certification Workshop Held Last Week
ASDWA and EPA hosted the 7th National Capacity Development and Operator Certification Workshop last week on August 7-9, 2024, in Madison, Wisconsin. We want to say a big “thank you” to the over 170 representatives from states and territories, EPA Headquarters and Regions, and technical assistance (TA) organizations who helped plan for and attended the workshop.
This year’s workshop theme was, “50 Years of the Safe Drinking Water Act: Taking Lessons Learned to Build Towards a Sustainable Future.” The sessions included funding, strategies, workforce, using data, cybersecurity, lead service lines, capacity development and operator certification roundtables, and more. The presentations and discussions exemplified the theme of our workshop by sharing the great work states and TA providers are doing that can be used as examples and discussing the continuing challenges we can all work on together to ensure safe drinking water and protect public health.
ASDWA and EPA will continue to work with the states and our partners to develop and share resources and conduct additional meetings on different topics that were identified during the workshop. For more information about the workshop, visit ASDWA’s website.
