New EPA Booklet for State and Local Government Capacity Building Through Community Engagement
EPA has released a new 7-page booklet on “Capacity Building Through Effective Meaningful (Community) Engagement.” This booklet is intended to help local and state government officials create or expand their plan for engaging meaningfully with the communities most affected by their actions. The booklet provides examples of community engagement steps and plans that can be tailored to different purposes, levels of community interest, available resources, and other factors. Some of the examples include engaging with the cause through art and literature; developing and translating content and training about environmental health topics; and engaging with schools.
