Alliance for Water Efficiency Release Latest State Policy Scorecard
In January of this year, the Alliance for Water Efficiency (AWE), a nonprofit group dedicated to the efficient and sustainable use of water, released its 2022 State Policy Scorecard. The report ranks each U.S. state based on its laws and policies to advance water efficiency, conservation, sustainability, and affordability. The report scores states on areas such as plumbing fixture standards and codes, water loss control, water conservation planning, and drought preparedness planning. The top ten ranked states in order are California, Texas, Arizona, Georgia, Washington, New York, Nevada, New Hampshire, Colorado, and Minnesota. AWE provides individual scorecards for all fifty states, which include recommendations for states to make improvements. AWE last released a State Policy Scorecard in 2017 and noted little change in the scores since then.
