EPA Releases Update on Integrated Risk Information System Activities
On June 24, EPA released an update on the status of ongoing activities under the Agency’s Integrated Risk Information System (IRIS). IRIS risk assessments provide basic health risks for existing and emerging contaminants that can support the development of the Maximum Contaminant Level Goal (MCLG) for new drinking water regulations or the reconsideration of already established MCLGs under the Agency’s Six-Year Review process. EPA’s recent update reveals timelines and next steps for 18 chemicals including inorganic arsenic, chromium VI, and five PFAS (PFBA, PFDA, PFHxA, PFHxS, and PFNA).
