ASDWA Submits Letter of Recommendations to EPA for Enhancing Small and Disadvantaged Water System Funding and Assistance
On June 14, ASDWA submitted a letter to Michael Regan, EPA’s Administrator, and Rhadika Fox, EPA’s Assistant Administrator for the Office of Water, with detailed recommendations to further enhance small and disadvantaged water system funding and assistance efforts across the nation. ASDWA and its members are looking forward to partnering with EPA on the recommended actions that will provide much needed help for these water systems to access the new Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) funding.
The letter provides recommendations in five key topic areas for EPA to:
- Recognize and Build Upon States’ Ongoing Successes
- Maximize State DWSRF Flexibility, Remove Restrictions, and Expand Eligibilities
- Provide EPA Funding for Technical Assistance that is Directed by or Directly Coordinated with States
- Enhance Coordination between EPA Regions and States
- Coordinate and Consider All Possible Funding Sources with States and Partners
