ASDWA Pushes EPA to Further Engage States in Justice40 Initiative
In a letter sent to EPA last month (December 8, 2021), ASDWA provided initial input to the Agency regarding the Biden Administration’s Justice40 Initiative. ASDWA’s letter notes that close collaboration between EPA and the States is crucial as ASDWA’s members are co-regulators and the “boots on the ground” to work towards meeting the Administration’s Justice40 goals. In the letter, the association highlights uncertainties in EPA’s work to address disadvantaged communities, such as the apparent lack of an Agency definition. In response to the Justice40 Initiative, ASDWA has formed a member workgroup to help provide substantial feedback to EPA, particularly the Office of Water.
