EPA Hosts LCRR Co-Regulator Engagement
This week, EPA hosted a national co-regulator meeting on July 28 and July 29 to discuss the feedback received from the prior virtual engagements and obtain input from primacy agencies on the Lead and Copper Rule Revisions (LCRR). The virtual meeting included discussions on identifying lead in drinking water, addressing lead in drinking water, and communicating about lead in drinking water, and gave state and territorial primacy agencies the opportunity to respond to and build on previous input to EPA. The meeting was not livestreamed or recorded; however, a written summary and the meeting chat will be posted to the docket. ASDWA also submitted another round of written input to EPA on the LCRR, covering six main topics: sampling and monitoring, small system flexibility, public education and public notification, lead testing in schools and child care facilities, lead service line inventories and replacement plans, and corrosion control treatment and related issues. The docket, which closes today, indicates over 55,000 comments have been submitted to EPA during this round of engagement.
