EPA Announces Public Engagement Sessions for Potential Revisions to MDBP Cluster
Today (3/16), EPA announced a series of virtual public engagement sessions to solicit public input and information to inform potential regulatory revisions of eight National Primary Drinking Water Regulations (NPDWRs) included in Microbial and Disinfection Byproducts (MDBP) rules following the Six-Year Review 3. These sessions will generally last from 1:00-4:00 EDT and are scheduled for the following dates:
- Thursday, May 20 – Topic: Disinfectant Residual Levels and Opportunistic Pathogens (including Legionella)
- Thursday, June 24 – Topic: Regulated and Unregulated Disinfection By-Products
- Wednesday, July 14 – Topics To Be Determined (TBD)
- Tuesday, August 10 – Topics TBD
- Wednesday, September 1 – Topics TBD
- Thursday, September 29 – Topics TBD
- Tuesday, November 9 – Topics TBD
EPA plans to select future meeting topics based on priority areas identified through current public input. Additional meeting topic examples may include drinking water distribution systems, finished drinking water storage, source water considerations, and consecutive drinking water systems. EPA intends to provide specific meeting materials and other information (e.g., registration, meeting agenda) in advance of each meeting.
