WHO Publishes 2nd Edition of Toxic Cyanobacteria in Water
The World Health Organization (WHO) has published the 2nd Edition of “Toxic Cyanobacteria in Water: A Guide to Their Public Health Consequences, Monitoring and Management.” The guide is intended to help public health protection professionals design monitoring programs and develop strategies for cyanobacteria management. This new edition presents the current state of knowledge on the occurrence of cyanobacteria and cyanotoxins, as well as their impacts on health from drinking water and recreational water exposure pathways. It also includes technical information to support hazard identification and the assessment, prioritization and management of the risks posed by cyanobacteria and their toxins.
