EPA Sends Two LCRR Notices to OMB for Review
On Friday, March 5, EPA sent two actions regarding the Lead and Copper Rule Revisions (LCRR) to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) for interagency review. These actions are part of the Agency’s ongoing review of the Lead and Copper Rule and address changes in dates consistent with the Biden-Harris administration Executive Order 13990, as well as the Regulatory Freeze Pending Review Memorandum and the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA). The details of these brief notices will be made publicly available in the near future after OMB completes its review.
The contents of these two actions are unknown at this time. One can speculate that the LCRR effective data (March 16, 2021) will be delayed to allow for a more detailed review of the LCRR. One can also speculate that some other action might be taken in response to the LCRR lawsuit recently filed by attorney generals in California, New York, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and the District of Columbia.
