Biden Chooses North Carolina DEQ Secretary for EPA Administrator
President-Elect Joe Biden intends to nominate Michael Regan for Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency. Regan has been serving as Secretary of the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality (NCDEQ) since January 2017. Regan has nearly 20 years of experience with environmental advocacy and regulation. Before his appointment as Secretary of NCDEQ, he served as the Associate Vice President of U.S. Climate and Energy and Southeast Regional Director of the Environmental Defense Fund and led their efforts to reduce the impacts of climate change and air quality pollution. Prior to that, Regan worked for the Environmental Protection Agency’s air quality and energy programs for the Clinton and Bush administrations. The Biden-Harris Administration has been outspoken about addressing both climate change and environmental justice issues.
