USDA NRCS Announces New RCPP Alternative Funding Projects
USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) has announced $50 million in funding for ten Regional Conservation Partnership Program (RCPP) Alternative Funding Arrangement (AFA) projects in 16 states. These projects will leverage an additional $65 million from partners to identify producers and landowners and carry out technical assistance to implement agricultural and forestry practices. Three of the new projects specifically identify drinking water protection goals:
- Improving Forest Health Through Aggregation: in the Pennsylvania and New York areas of the Upper Delaware River watershed
- Innovative Conservation: Vital Streams and Forests: in the Sonoma Agricultural and Open Space District in California
- Sebago Watershed Protection Investment Program: in the Lake Sebago Watershed in Maine
