Successful National Capacity Development and Operator Certification Workshop Series Wraps Up
ASDWA and EPA held the third and final virtual session last week for the National Capacity Development and Operator Certification Workshop series. At least 100 people attended each of the three webinars and Teams sessions from the states, EPA Headquarters and Regions, technical assistance organizations, and more. The last session on August 25th showcased “Adaptive Training and Testing Techniques” to meet operator needs during COVID-19. The webinar featured Don Papai from the Indiana Rural Water Alliance who shared lessons learned from web-based training, and Laurie Sharp from the Iowa Operator Certification & Capacity Development Program who spoke about how remote proctoring has saved operators time and money, and increased their accessibility to take exams. Discussions during the Teams meeting highlighted different state requirements, challenges, and successes from across the country, and how they will continue to use remote training and testing options in the future.
