CBO Releases New Cost Estimate for Potential PFAS Legislation
On November 25th, the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) released a cost estimate for S. 1507, PFAS Release Disclosure and Protection Act of 2019. CBO estimated that this legislation (if enacted into law) would require $46 million in new appropriations in FY 2020 and $715 million in FY 2020-2024. Areas of significant uncertainties in this cost estimate include projecting the costs of testing and analysis of PFAS in water and estimating the number of compounds that EPA would potentially regulate.
