Proposed Perchlorate Rule goes to OMB
Yesterday (4/16), EPA submitted its proposed perchlorate regulation to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) for their review. The review by OMB’s Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs (OIRA) is one of the final steps before the proposal can be published for public review. OIRA officially has a 90 day time period to do their review, but it can be completed quicker than that, or delayed, depending on the circumstances and issues surrounding a particular rule. Since EPA is under a court-ordered deadline for publishing the draft rule, we expect the review to be done more quickly and the rule proposed in the Federal Register relatively soon.
