Wheeler Confirmed by Senate EPW Committee
Today, February 5th the nomination of Andrew Wheeler as Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency was confirmed by the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works. The vote fell on party lines with 11 votes yes and 10 votes no. The next and final step will be for his nomination to be voted on by the full Senate. Senator Schumer (D-NY) expressed his concerns about a lack of an MCL for PFOA and PFOS. Sen. Schumer mentioned on CBS New York, “We are going to try to hold up his nomination unless he does this. And if that doesn’t work, pass legislation requiring the federal government under the Clean Water Act to put out standards.”
