National Drinking Water Advisory Council Meeting Set for Dec. 6-7
EPA has scheduled a meeting of the National Drinking Water Advisory Council on December 6-7 in Washington, D.C. This meeting will cover a broad range of issues as shown on the agenda below. The meeting will start off with an OGWDW update and then shift to improving compliance through a variety of approaches (keeping in mind EPA’s new strategic goal to reduce non-compliance with health-based standards by 25% by 2020), and an update on EPA’s regulatory development process.
The recently passed America’s Water Infrastructure Act (AWIA) has 27 sections that impact EPA’s drinking water program – ASDWA has previously summarized the 27 sections. The NDWAC will discuss potential changes mandated by AWIA to the Drinking Water State Revolving Loan Fund (DWSRF) and the Consumer Confidence Reports (CCRs), as well as EPA’s new grant programs for lead testing in schools and child care centers from the Water Infrastructure Improvements for the Nation (WIIN) Act.
