Senators Agree on Another CR
The Government Shutdown seems to be over…or nearly so. Within the last hour, the Senate has voted to approve another short term extension of funding for the Federal Government. The new funding expiration date is Thursday, February 8. The measure now has to go back to the House for concurrence and then to the President for signature; however, all affected parties appear to be in agreement that this will happen. We can likely expect normal government operations to resume within the next 24 hours.
As an aside, EPA did not close down last Friday night. All workers are at their desks today and are expected to be there throughout the week regardless of other Congressional action. Administrator Pruitt found funds from various sources to support the Agency’s workforce through the end of this week.
