ASDWA Asks for Timely Actions by EPA and CDC on PFAS
On Friday, January 12th, ASDWA sent a letter to EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt and CDC Director Dr. Brenda Fitzgerald that makes several detailed recommendations for actions by EPA and CDC to assist states with the growing problem of Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS) in drinking water. The letter focused on two critical recommendations: the formation of a federal-state working committee to address the detailed recommendations, and the development of a unified message, promptly, to the public and state regulators on what to do about PFAS. The letter spells out several research recommendations such as health effects and analytical methods, as well as guidance for underground injection control, soil leaching standards, and air emissions.
