EPA Offers Webinar on Dichlor and Trichlor as Disinfectants
As part of their continuing webinar series on drinking water issues, EPA’s Office of Research and Development and Office of Water are offering a webinar that examines the use of chlorinated cyanurate chemicals (commonly called dichlor and trichlor) as drinking water disinfectants. The webinar will be held on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at 2:00 EST. Although these chemicals are approved under FIFRA as a disinfectant and may have ANSI/NSF Standard 60 certification, their use as a drinking water disinfectant presents some challenges. This webinar will acquaint participants with these chemicals as disinfectants, along with the limitations of traditional residual measurement techniques. Viewers will also learn how the state of Utah is handling water systems that use or plan to use these chemicals.
