Pruitt Speaks to House E&C Environment Subcommittee
On Thursday morning, EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt appeared before the House Energy & Commerce Subcommittee to discuss the Agency and its plans for the future. Subcommittee Chair John Shimkus (R-IL) welcomed Mr. Pruitt and asked that he provide details on several priority areas including Superfund, TSCA, the Safe Drinking Water Act, and the Clean Air Act.
Administrator Pruitt responded by reiterating his previously noted “Back to Basics” agenda goals…to refocus on the Agency’s core mission; implement cooperative Federalism, and adhere to the rule of law. Most of the morning’s Q&A focused on climate change and chemical rule backlogs. Pruitt was only available for an hour due to a previous commitment at the White House. The Subcommittee is expected to reconvene later today. You may watch recordings of both sessions by going to the Subcommittee’s hearing page or clicking here.
