Opportunity to Comment on Information Request for the Annual Compliance Report
EPA is preparing to request renewal of the “Information Collection Request” that covers the drinking water Annual Compliance Report (ACR). In order to request information from a large group, like state primacy agencies, EPA must have an approved Information Collection Request (ICR) covering that gathering of data. The ICR for the Annual Compliance Report (ACR) needs to be renewed and EPA is preparing to send the request to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB). Before they submit the request, EPA is soliciting comments. The ACR is required by the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA), so it is not going to be eliminated, regardless of any comments received, but this is an opportunity to recommend changes in the process that could make preparing and submitting the ACR easier for states. EPA is not projecting any changes in the burden on states submitting the report under a renewed ICR. EPA will also continue support states by providing annual guidance and assisting with extracting compliance data from the EPA database.
Comments must be submitted on or before November 28, 2017. Submit comments, referencing Docket ID No. EPA-HQ-OECA-2017-0438 online using www.regulations.gov (preferred method), by email to docket.oeca@epa.gov, or by mail to: EPA Docket Center, Environmental Protection Agency, Mail Code 28221T, 1200 Pennsylvania Ave. NW., Washington, DC 20460.
