EPA Selects 12 Projects to Apply for WIFIA Loans
On Wednesday, July 19, EPA announced the names of the 12 projects/organizations in that the Agency has selected to apply for the first round of loans from the Water Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Act (WIFIA) program. EPA received 43 letters of interest for potential WIFIA loans in response to its first Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA).
The projects’ total construction cost is $5.1 billion, with $2.3 billion coming from the WIFIA loans (assuming all the loans close). The loans will fund a variety of wastewater, drinking water, stormwater, and water recycling projects in 9 states, and include one infrastructure financing authority in Indiana.
