House Rules Committee to Take on Earmarks
Congressionally directed spending, the new term for a longstanding process we know as earmarks, may be making a comeback. Earlier this week, House Rules Committee Chair Pete Sessions (R-TX) signaled an interest in reviving the funding device and plans to hold public hearings in March. Sessions noted that the Committee will then review all pertinent materials and compile a list of recommendations by the Congressional July 4 Recess. The recommendations report will be presented to House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) for determination of any further action.
