Washington State Seeks to Fill Position of Director of the Office of Drinking Water
The Washington State Department of Health, Division of Environmental Public Health is search for a credible, unifying leader who is committed to innovation, collaboration, and diversity to fill the position of Director, Office of Drinking Water. This position is located in Tumwater, Washington. (Recruitment # DOH3080)
The Director must be comfortable with and competent in working with complex, sensitive and publicly visible public health issues involving a wide variety of stakeholders and partners. The ideal candidate will encourage and sustain strong strategic partnerships with state agencies, local health jurisdictions, communities, public partners, tribes, and the regulated community to maintain a responsive and effective approach to ensuring safe and reliable drinking water. The Department is most interested in candidates who are excited about:

- Building and sustaining strong, strategic partnerships that support resolution of complex, sensitive and publicly visible environmental public health issues; and

Reporting to the Assistant Secretary for the Division of Environmental Public Health, the Director is responsible for the direct management and oversight of the state’s drinking water program that regulates over 4,200 Group A and 13,000 Group B public water systems. S/he oversees the work of a field operations team in three (3) regional offices, and four sections in Tumwater covering multiple statewide programs and service areas. This position is responsible for a staff of 105 which includes 4 direct reports. The Director is accountable for ensuring accurate and adequate development and management of the office’s entire operating and capital budget, requiring a high degree of performance, strategic and financial planning and financial management oversight.
