Joint Water Sector Coordinating Council & Government Coordinating Council Meet

On Tuesday, November 10, utility representatives from the Water Sector Coordinating Council (WSCC) met jointly with state and Federal Government Coordinating Council (GCC) members to discuss issues of mutual concern and interest.  Discussion topics ranged from updates on the Gold King Mine incident and EPA Water Security Division’s efforts to promote effective cyber security at water utilities to ongoing decontamination research being conducted at the National Homeland Security Research Center (NHSRC), and information on a newly forming National Infrastructure Advisory Council (NIAC) effort to assess preparedness efforts across all critical infrastructure sectors.  The Councils also considered possible next steps as a result of the Sector’s Cyber Strategy document released earlier this year.  ASDWA has been a longstanding member of the GCC and is represented by Jon Dilliard (MT), Johnna McKenna (NH), and Bridget O’Grady (ASDWA Staff).
