Successful AWOP National Meeting Held in Cincinnati
On July 21st and 22nd, ASDWA and EPA co-hosted a National Meeting on the Area Wide Optimization Program (AWOP) in Cincinnati, Ohio. The meeting was attended by approximately 80 participants, from 25 states, EPA Regions, EPA-OGWDW, EPA-ORD, and Canada. Meeting participants shared lessons learned from their respective optimization efforts and remaining challenges they face. Attendees also heard updates on a number of cross-cutting issues and engaged in breakout discussions of an array of topics including assessing the integrity/reliability of treatment plant data; tracking the long term impact of optimization efforts; and applying optimization concepts to the challenge of cyanotoxins in sources of drinking water.
