Terrorist Threat May Affect Holiday Travel
News media in both the U.S. and the United Kingdom are reporting that al-Qaida terrorist threats to blow up commercial airplanes throughout Europe may affect holiday travel this year. While no specific threat to the U.S. has been identified, airlines and security officials are considering a range of more stringent travel provisions during the holiday season. Potential restrictions could be as simple as banning electronic devices in passenger cabins and requiring that they be stowed with checked luggage or a broader outright ban on all carry-on luggage.
