Successful Capacity Development-Operator Certification Workshop Held
From November 19-21, approximately 140 individuals from EPA (headquarters and the Regions), USDA-Rural Utility Service, 44 states, and technical assistance provider organizations gathered in Atlanta for the once-every-three year National Capacity Development-Operator Certification Workshop. Attendees shared both successes and ongoing challenges in enhancing the technical, managerial, and financial capacity of small water systems as well as innovative approaches to training and certifying operators. At the workshop’s end, participants brainstormed about the future direction of the program over the course of the next few years and needed next steps to best support our collective efforts in these critical program areas. All of the presentations from the workshop will shortly be posted to ASDWA’s website.
