AWWA’s Emergency Preparedness and Security Conference Highlights
Water and wastewater professionals (including an ASDWA representative and several state drinking water program personnel) gathered earlier this week in Itasca, Illinois to participate in the AWWA Emergency Preparedness and Security Conference. The three day event covered a wide range of security issues including advances in emergency preparedness techniques, better consequence management strategies, and the new emphasis on cyber security concerns.
Technical sessions covered lessons learned from recent weather disasters and how they can inform better decision making in the future; understanding the effective uses of the J-100/RAMCAP tools; translating the Water Security Initiative pilots into real world applications; and better capabilities to prepare, exercise, and implement business continuity plans.
