UL Now Provides a Validation Service for Manufacturer Claims for Drinking Water Products
UL (Underwriters Laboratories) recently announced that it was launching a water systems validation service which would include drinking water treatment units. This is not a certification of the treatment unit but rather, an evaluation of the product to determine the validity of specific marketing claims. The evaluation criteria would be defined by the manufacturer, but the evaluation would be performed by UL as an independent third party. Products that meet the manufacturer’s claims will be issued certificates of validation from UL. These certificates could be shared with customers to substantiate the performance claims made by the vendor. The validation service is currently available from UL in its testing facilities in South Bend, Indiana and Bangalore, India. For more information about this service visit the UL website.
