Position: Laboratory Certification Officer – Environmental Scientist III
Location: Carson City, NV
Salary: $47,606.40 to $70,804.08
- Job Description: This position is responsible for conducting inspections of environmental laboratories performing analytical tests for the Safe Drinking Water Act, Clean Water Act, Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, and the Nevada Mining Laboratory Program. The incumbent will identify deficiencies in laboratory quality assurance practices and deviations from approved test methods. The Laboratory Certification Officer (LCO) will provide onsite technical assistance to laboratory personnel and recommend approval/disapproval of laboratory corrective action plans and eligibility for certification.
- Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in the physical, natural resource or life sciences, engineering or closely related field and three years of professional environmental experience which involved environmental program research, planning, and technical support; OR one year of experience as an Environmental Scientist II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. This position also requires moderate travel (up to 25% of the time) in and out of state and ability to pass EPA LCO training courses and an application evaluation exam.
