Policy Briefs Concerning the Risks of Climate Change
A series of science policy briefs has been compiled by the Center for Water Policy at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee’s School of Freshwater Sciences. These one-page briefs note that climate change is expected to increase the risks of rain-related disease in Wisconsin (and elsewhere). The papers discuss the latest science that has detected viruses from human sewage in non-disinfected groundwater and how the increased intensity and frequency of precipitation under climate-change scenarios is expected to increase these risks by increasing the burden stormwater poses on already stressed infrastructure.
