Cybersecurity Executive Order Being Considered
While no official statement has yet been made, there is strong speculation that President Obama is preparing to issue an Executive Order requiring the Department of Homeland Security to establish cybersecurity guidelines. Such guidelines would offer ways in which the private sector would share data with the Federal government in exchange for critical cybersecurity information. The goal would be to create an information exchange framework to identify and address cyber threats and vulnerabilities. There are no details as yet to describe how or if the water sector would be affected. The White House acknowledges concerns with the issue of cybersecurity but says that there are no immediate plans to release a new Executive Order.
