EPA Office of Water Releases Latest Climate Change Strategy Progress Report
EPA has released its National Water Program Strategy: Response to Climate Change, 2010-2011 National and Regional Highlights of Progress. This is the third and final progress report addressing the goals and actions outlined in the 2008 National Water Program Climate Change Strategy. This report highlights EPA activities and efforts undertaken across Headquarters, Regions, and the Large Aquatic Ecosystem Programs to address climate change impacts on our water programs in 2010 and 2011. Of particular note, state drinking water programs will want to read about the efforts of the Climate Ready Water Utilities Initiative under goal 2 (see related article for more details) and the many examples of coordination, training, and funding activities that each of the EPA Regions and affiliated states have undertaken.
Future annual progress reports will reflect activities related to the new 2012 version of the Strategy that is under development, but expected to be released within the next few months. To view this report, visit: http://water.epa.gov/scitech/climatechange/implementation.cfm.
